Women's Cashmere Beanie

A hat is the piece you put on last and take off first, so it spends the winter sitting against your face — in every photograph, every doorway, every walk from the car. These are hand-knit cashmere beanies for women, made in Kathmandu from Chyangra fibre combed in Nepal's Mustang region, and light enough to earn the space in your pocket.

Undyed, or the colour you actually wanted

Two versions of the same hat. The undyed beanie is left exactly as the fleece came — light, mid and dark grey melange, oatmeal and toast, with no dyeing or bleaching anywhere in the process. The dyed beanie takes the same three-ply yarn into nine colours, from off white and lilac through to pine, midnight navy and wine red.

Why the undyed one is worth a look

Dye is where weak cashmere hides: a blend, a coarse fibre or a patched-up yarn all disappear under colour. Leave the fleece undyed and there is nothing between you and the fibre, which makes our undyed line the easiest place to judge what you are actually buying. The rest of our range is dyed, and we say so.

Hand-knit, not machine-finished

Both hats are knitted by hand in a partner workshop in Kathmandu. The ribbed structure stretches to sit close to the head without gripping, and sits flat enough under a hood or a coat collar not to fight your coat.

Care

Hand-wash cool with a little cashmere shampoo, or dry-clean. Press the water out without wringing and dry flat, never on a hanger. Store folded so the ribbing keeps its shape.
