Our Story
1. A Himalayan Legacy
High in the remote Upper Mustang region of Nepal, at altitudes over 14,000 feet, the majestic Changra goats roam the rugged Himalayan landscape. These goats, adapted to the extreme cold, produce the world’s finest pashmina wool—delicate yet warm, and unbelievably soft.
2. The Birth of Lumusae
Lumusae was born from a deep respect for this Himalayan treasure and the skilled artisans who keep the centuries-old tradition alive. We set out not just to sell pashmina—but to protect its legacy. Every thread in our shawls and scarves carries a piece of Mustang's untouched beauty.
3. Artisan Crafted with Purpose
Each Lumusae piece begins with ethically sourced wool, hand-combed from the undercoat of Changra goats. Then, skilled Nepali artisans process, spin, and weave the fibers by hand using techniques passed down through generations. The process takes 7 full days—but we wouldn’t do it any other way.
4. A Promise Beyond Luxury
We believe luxury should be meaningful. That’s why Lumusae is committed to fair wages, sustainable harvesting, and direct support to local herders and artisans. When you wrap yourself in Lumusae, you’re not just wearing pashmina. You’re wearing a legacy of Himalayan craftsmanship, resilience, and care.
