ombre-hand-dipped-cashmere-bed-throw
Cashmere Blanket - Hand-Dipped Ombré Throw

A cashmere blanket dipped by hand, so the colour runs from a warm taupe at one end to cream at the other. The fade never lands in exactly the same place twice.

That gradient is the whole point of the piece, and it is also the proof of how it was made. A flat colour can come off any machine anywhere. A fade like this has to be dipped by a person who watches it and lifts it at the right moment. Ours is done in our own workshop in Kathmandu, by people we employ directly.

100% cashmere. 3-ply, 16 micron, knitted at 7 gauge. Nothing blended in — a great deal of what is sold as a cashmere blanket is thirty per cent cashmere and seventy per cent wool.

On the weight, because you may compare it. This throw is 1,000 grams. Our cable-knit and honeycomb throws are 1,500. That is deliberate: a 3-ply at 7 gauge gives a blanket that falls softly over a shoulder and lies flat at the foot of a bed, rather than sitting on top of it like a 6-ply does. It costs us more to make than either of the heavier throws, because the dipping is slow and the rejects are real.

Two sizes. Classic, 60 x 80 in, for a sofa or a single bed. Grand, 70 x 80 in, to cross a double or king.

Care. Dry clean, or hand wash cold with a gentle wool shampoo. Reshape while damp and dry flat, away from direct heat. Do not tumble dry. Do not wring.

Because each piece is dipped individually, the height of the fade varies a little from blanket to blanket. That variation is the mark of the method, not a fault.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0677/7598/7865/files/throw-04-folded-over-a-blanket-ladder.jpg?v=1791790699
